Use these questions before scalp micropigmentation. A responsible plan addresses hairline design, pigment, staged sessions, skin suitability and long-term expectations.
Before you agree
- The practitioner discusses hairline design, density, colour, existing hair loss and the limits of the visual result.
- The likely number of sessions, spacing, total price, maintenance and possible future changes are explained.
- Relevant scalp conditions, prior treatment and reasons to postpone or seek healthcare advice are handled privately.
- You approve the treatment plan without pressure and receive separate choices for photography or marketing.
During setup and service
- The workspace and touched equipment are cleanable or appropriately protected.
- Sterile single-use needle cartridges and disposable items are opened for the client and discarded safely.
- Hand hygiene, fresh gloves and pigment-dispensing controls are used throughout the service.
- The practitioner follows an explained process for preventing cross-contamination between clients.
Records and evidence to check
- Ask for SMP-specific training, infection-control learning, local permission and suitable insurance.
- Pigment brand, shade, batch or lot and expiry should be identifiable in the treatment record.
- Receive written preparation, aftercare and follow-up information, including when to obtain healthcare advice.
- Use the correct BAQA tool to verify any membership or credential claim.
Pause and ask more when
- Guaranteed density, colour stability, number of sessions or permanent satisfaction.
- No discussion of future hair loss, fading, colour change or maintenance.
- Poor privacy, rushed hairline approval or pressure to imitate another client’s result.
- No clear pigment traceability or aftercare route.
