Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing. Use this checklist to examine procedure-specific training, design, hygiene, pigment traceability and aftercare.
Before you agree
- The artist maps and discusses brow shape, symmetry, colour, skin considerations and the limits of the likely healed result.
- Previous brow work, relevant health information and reasons to postpone or refer are discussed privately.
- The number and timing of expected sessions, total price and correction policy are explained in writing.
- You can decline photographs or marketing use without losing the ability to consider the service.
During setup and service
- The blade or needle component is sterile, single use, opened for the client and discarded immediately into sharps waste.
- The treatment surface and frequently touched equipment are cleanable or appropriately barrier protected.
- Hand hygiene, fresh gloves and pigment-dispensing controls prevent contamination of clean supplies.
- The artist works only within the method, products and services covered by their training and local permission.
Records and evidence to check
- Ask for microblading-specific training, current infection-control learning, local permission and suitable insurance.
- Confirm pigments are identifiable by brand, shade, batch or lot and expiry in the client record.
- Expect written preparation, aftercare, follow-up and a route for concerns.
- Check BAQA membership or credentials using the exact record shown, not a social-media image alone.
Pause and ask more when
- A portfolio is offered instead of training, consent, hygiene or product information.
- Guaranteed symmetry, colour, retention or healing.
- No discussion of existing pigment, correction limitations or reasons a treatment may be unsuitable.
- Unclear pricing for follow-up sessions or pressure to pay before the consultation is complete.
