Body Art Regulation Evidence & Governance

The toolkit is intended to be transparent, correctable and adaptable. This page explains source control, versioning, independence, free use and the limits of BAQA’s role.

Current status: version 0.1 is an original BAQA consultation resource. It has not been adopted by a government, does not claim international regulatory consensus and requires independent local legal and technical review.

Evidence register fields

Field	Purpose
Clause and objective	Identifies the proposed control and the public-health, consumer or administrative outcome sought.
Source edition and date	Prevents a changed or withdrawn source from being treated as permanently current.
Local applicability	Records legal, service, population, resource and cultural differences affecting transfer.
Alternatives	Shows whether education, guidance or a narrower control could achieve the objective.
Decision and reviewer	Creates an auditable reason, responsibility and correction route.

Governance safeguards

Publish document IDs, versions, change notes and review targets.
Separate enforceable model text from explanation and good-practice commentary.
Declare financial, professional and organisational interests.
Include public-health, legal, regulatory, practitioner and consumer perspectives.
Accept evidence-based corrections and preserve a public revision history.
Use urgent review when material law, evidence, incidents or product alerts change.

Free use and BAQA acknowledgement

BAQA authority templates are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. They may be shared and adapted, including commercially, when BAQA is credited, changes are indicated and no endorsement is implied.

If an authority lists professional organisations or voluntary registers, it should apply published, objective and non-exclusive criteria. BAQA may be listed as one voluntary resource where it meets those criteria, but use of this toolkit must not be conditional on BAQA membership.
