Product traceability connects what was supplied, stored, prepared and used with a particular client record. A colour name or photograph of a bottle is not a complete traceability system.
Minimum record questions
Identity and intended use
Record the manufacturer or responsible supplier, product name or shade, and the intended-use information applying in that market. Do not describe a product as approved, sterile, organic, vegan or hypoallergenic without evidence supporting that exact claim.
Batch, lot and expiry
Capture the batch or lot identifier and relevant expiry or use-by information in a form that can be searched if a recall, complaint or adverse event occurs.
Packaging and preparation
Check integrity before use, prevent contamination during dispensing, and follow the current manufacturer instructions for storage, preparation and disposal.
Needles and cartridges
Record the relevant device or cartridge information and verify sealed single-use status where applicable. Product choice does not replace safe setup and sharps controls.
Mixtures and adjustments
Document each component and the practitioner’s recorded treatment plan. Do not rely on an undocumented personal recipe when traceability may later matter.
Recall and escalation route
Know how supplier notices are received, affected records are found, products are isolated and appropriate clients, authorities or healthcare routes are contacted.
Regulation is location-specific
Rules for tattoo and permanent-makeup products differ. For example, the US FDA and the EU/EEA REACH framework describe materially different controls. Use the official authority for the market where the product is supplied and used rather than transferring one jurisdiction’s claim worldwide.
